Are the rear bumper the same from 70-72 .I need a 70 and found a 71 with brackets
If bumpers are different will the brackets interchange??

68-72 Elcamino rear bumpers are all the same. The brackets should also be the same.

Yes, They are the same, NOTE: 70-72 Has red reflectors in the place of the back up lights that were on the 68-69 ??. You are good to go.

I beg to differ Mr El Camino:p Actuall the 69's had the red reflectors in the bumper too:thumbsup:

I have a rear bumper that has the red lights in the bumper but they are not reflectors they acually have light sockets and light up like a running light,with the headlight are on.... Has anyone ever come accross this ? This is on both my 71 gmc sprints, Is that the defference of the elco and sprint...:beers:

My 70 has reflectors in the bumper. In 1973 I purchased a one owner 71 Elcamino that had red lights in the bumper that were brake lights only.
I don't think the previous owner installed them.
Is this something that has been discussed before?

for some reason I think I saw a thread on here a ways back where people actually put lights in them and had them work. I know mine has the light socket spot on it as well, no wiring or anything to be seen that would go to them though.
