Bagged Elky

Has anyone thrown a set of 20's on either chevelle or el camino. I bagged mine and was wondering if any one has done the same and might have suggestions on what might work. Thanks in advance.

I've seen 20's on a 68 Elky (http://www.bull-enterprises.com/dalesplace/images/friends_cars/clintcamino6.jpg). Wheels are 20x10 with 5.5" backspacing (0" offset) and tires are 275-35.

17x10x5.5 w/2.75-40 (http://www.team67.com/gallery/malibu/mcnamee03.jpg) and 17x9.5x5.5 w/275-40 (http://www.chevellestuff.com/tech/tire_wheel_photos/67_gold_malibu01.jpg) fit on 67 Malibus. I would think that 20x10's or might work with 5.5 or 5.75 backspacing if the tire is not too tall. A 215-35/20 would be roughly the same height as the 275-40x17.

So if 20x10's will fit under an Elky....i should have no trouble with 17x9.5 under my 72 Elky???
Should I stick with a 5.5 bs??? What tire size??
Thanx,
Brian

Yes,that was my former 68 El Camino with the TT II 20x10's. A car doesn't really care whether its wheels are 15-16-17-18-19 or 20's.,,all it really cares about is the wheel width and tire width & diameter.
20" tires were very hard to find when I installed them on my 68 so that's why I only used 275's. IMO,I wouldn't use 20's on the front as they will make your car look like an SUV. My suggestion would be an 18" front.

5.5" backspace should work fine with a 17x9.5 wheel. I would not run wider than a 285 tire on that width rim.

So I'm looking at some 17 or 18" rims for my 66 wagon which be the same as a 64-67 Elco.

My rear end is a 69 or so 12 bolt. It is wider but how much? Is it one inch or is it 1/2 per side or 1" per side?

I'd like to put a 17x9.5 on back with 275s or so.
