 Street Fire HEI Dist. PN 8362. Plugs brand new AC Delco's, 383 Stroker and Comp Cams CCA-CL 12-213-3, stock starter I had to fix a loose rocker arm and now it wont fire.
I turned the motor until it was at TDC and verified both valves on #1 were closed had to turn the oil pump with screwdriver slightly to align the rotor up with #1 and then installed it. I then put the cap on and connected the #1 wire up to the post that was going to be hit closest, then I connected the rest. I then connected the 3 wire clip from the base to the cap, the tach wire and the +12v source.
Symptoms: First - I had adjusted the rocker arms to tight so no compression but now I loosened them up and slapped myself.
Second - It turns over normal sounding except not a hint of a fire.
Third - I pulled #1 spark plug turned off the lights and set it up on the fender on a piece of rubber, it sparked blue but I noticed it had another spark on it coming through the heat protector to the hinge.
Fourth - Put some starting fluid in the carb and no fire.
Fifth - Checked #1 and #8 plugs to see if they are wet and dry as a bone.
Sixth - Checked fuel flow and it was good.
Seventh - Put in dist 180 degrees off and still nothing......
