I have a 700R4 in my daily driver 88 suburban and I have ben hearing a clicking noise. Its more of a random clicking noise as in its more of a clickclick.....click...click not just a constant clicking. It can only be heard with the window down and it changes with vehicle (http://www.chevelles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=324233#) speed. The transmission works great in all gears. I jacked the back tires of the ground and put the trans in N I then rotated the driveshaft by hand and could here the clicking sound. It seems to be comming from the tailshaft area possibly the spedo gear?? I removed the spedo cable and it still makes the noise. I was wondering if anyone has had this problem and may know exactly what it is. If not I will probobly just pull the driveline and tailshaft housing off and inspect.

Dejavue.Didnt I already give you the clock answer?LOL Its been a while since Ive climed under my car and turned the drive shaft by hand but I think I remember there being a clicking noise.Even when I push the car in and out of the garage.Not while Im driving though.You sure you are hearing the same noise while driving?Years back I had a clicking noise comming from the tourq converter.Replaced it and all good.I have a 700r4 as well.
