Guys,

I currently have the front clip off and the frame out from under the vehicle so I can't take any measurements. I'm running a standard 68 - 72 12 bolt. On the front I'm running the B-body 12" spindle/discs.

I believe these tires will fit without body/frame modifications because this is what Popular Hot Rodding documented on the Red Line Oil Chevelle in June & July 99. However, they were running a bolt-in Fab 9" in the rear and I don't believe they are running the B-body spindles in the front. Also, in one issue they say the rear wheels are 17x11 and in the other they say 17x10.

Can anyone positively confirm that 275/40-17 will fit on the front? If so, what rim width and backspacing? 9 1/2 wide, 5 1/2 backspacing?

Likewise, how about a 315/35-17 on the back? Width and backspacing? 11 wide, 6 backspacing?

Thanks in advance.

17 x 9.5 & 275/40, 5 3/4" backspace front, 17 x 11 & 315/35, 6 3/8" backspace rear on my 70 El Camino. No wheel well mods. The 315's are 12.38" wide at the sidewalls. See my sig for pics.

Keith,

Nice El Camino! The ride height is perfect. On slide 27 of your photo album you mention that the rear wheels required a 1? adapter. Did your 6 3/8 backspacing account for the extra inch, or do I need to add an additional inch getting 7 3/8 total backspacing for the rear.

Thanks! The wheel has 7 3/8" of backspacing so I had to add the 1" adapter to get the 6 3/8" backspacing required to get the wheel/tire centered in the wheel well. I used a 1" adapter on the front as well. The disc brake rotor hat is .3" thick also.

FYI the Redline Chevelle did have the Tall b-body spindle conversion. To bad they do list 2 different wheel offsets.

KAA, that is one awesome El Camino you have. I I love the stance' and the color with the stripes. Have you ever considered sending Al some pictures for "Feature Car of the Month"?
