: Setting engine back

Hey I havent given it a try but I have a plan to set the motor back on my car about 5 inches and noticed that it may be possible to swap the engine stands on the frame backwards and have it bolt up with zero mods to the mounts.

Im curious if the triangular bolt pattern is symetrical and if the mounts will land in the same plane just ~5 inches back. If it has been tried lemme know, I would like a bolt on solution to this as opposed to making custom mounts (which I can do but would rather not if at all possible).

Have you considered the firewall mods to make this happen?
That's just the start of the mods you;ll need.

Yeah Im well aware, along with the trans tunnel and drive shaft tunnel that will be raised a few inches. Im itching to get going with it actually. Cutting the car is not a big deal at all and is actually necessary for other things Im doing as well.

Just wanted to know if it would be that easy at mounts. Reason I ask is I alread have all the parts for the Ls1 adapters and would prefer to use them instead of trying to sell them for way less than I paid.

If I have to do custom mounts than so be it, I just wanted to know if it was possible and would leave the engine sitting the same way just a few inches back.

I would say start by forgetting about where the bolt holes are. As many of us have done with out ls1 swaps, bolt the mounts and frame stands to the engine and stab the engine and put it where you want it. Mark some holes and drill for where you want it to be. Getting the backside to hold the nut may be tricky but it can be done.

I agree Im just asking if its trully that easy by swapping sides... Its funny cause I figured I wanted a 5" set back and when measuring where the frame stands would land by swapping sides I got just that. I looks like they may bolt on reversed, just wondering if someone knows if they do and works.

I can undoubtedly unbolt them and do the measuring just was hoping someone knew, yes or no.

I also think I may be able to run a bat wing style oil pan setting it back which is better for turning and gives alot more ground clearance.

Granted I may want to lower the motor which precludes using the stock frame stands id I get a pan that gives more ground clearance but hey I can at least its another idea that gets me closer to a 50/50 weight distribution.
