BLURAT72 Jul 3rd, 10, 5:12 PM nice
BlownYenko Jul 3rd, 10, 6:28 PM Looks great - i love the color! Is that a 4" or 5" cowl hood? Did you stretch the rear wheel arch to fit the 33" tire?
SS509 Jul 3rd, 10, 7:05 PM Thanks. Yes they are stretched. The hood is a 4". Truly wanted a metal hood but every co. i spoked to said the largest in metal was 2 1/2". Ilike how the underneath turned out but it was a costly ordeal. Next is a custom hand built fuel cell and a gauge with sender. Have about 50 miles on her so far and the 12 gal. cell does not get me very far. Not really complaining. The Rear Window says it all. Frank
Dakenzie1 Jul 3rd, 10, 10:28 PM Oh Frank, I know your neighbors are glad to "hear" you get that thing going.:D
Very nice looking car! What fuel did you wind up using and was you able to get by without additives?
SS509 Jul 3rd, 10, 11:15 PM Running 93 with Kemco 130. 1 qt. to 5 gal. Has about 50 miles on her and not wanting to try to run without adding it. As for the neighbors the comments are mixed. I have put the house up for sale though. Motor seems to like 36-37 total with idle at 1200. By your numbers your motor must be treating you good. Good to hear from you. Are you running Kemco.

Very nice. Whats the comp ratio?
steveracer33 Jul 4th, 10, 7:36 AM Very nice...mine will get there soon! I have a 69 also
SS509 Jul 4th, 10, 8:16 AM Larry JE 10.8 Steve, any Pics. I still have more to do also. AS you know its time and money. Best of Luck with your build. Frank
Dakenzie1 Jul 4th, 10, 10:11 AM Frank, I'm running 93 octane with no additives. Timings at 20* initial and 37* total. I've been to the track 3 times for a total of 16 passes and maybe 500 miles on the street. There are no signs of detonation. I would like to try it on 91 octane in the cooler weather. I still think the car has a lot more in it with tuning. But I'm lucky just to get it to crank and tuning is above my pay grade.
I also just found another post of yours regarding the oil leak. Did you get that fixed. That single vented valve cover is pretty suspect to me.
SS509 Jul 4th, 10, 11:04 AM Oil leak fixed. One of the blind bolt holes was not totally cleaned out during the assembly. Long story short New Head Gasket. Timing started at 32 and the idle was around 1500 and did have a slight detonation. More timing, less idle, but near 100 with the humidity figured in. Typical Florida summer weather although this usually happens mid August-Sept. Kind of sucks, used up the good cruising weather getting it all together.Adding dynamat and a custom fuel cell and should be good to go for Oct.-May. What were your engine specs. I think we were somewhat close.
69 Malibu Jul 5th, 10, 6:21 PM man, I really need to get the side stripe put on my 69........looks real nice.
Dakenzie1 Jul 5th, 10, 6:46 PM What were your engine specs. I think we were somewhat close.
489 cid, 10.9 cr, Brodix RR rect heads, Vic jr, Pro Systems 1000 HP, 2" Hookers, 3-1/2" Dynomax mufflers. Current cam is a Comp 288AR S/R. (.623 and .246). I do have a Chris Straub S/R waiting to be installed. He says it's worth close to a hundred horses.
SS509 Jul 6th, 10, 8:32 AM Nice looking Todd. I do think the stripe will look good on it. Is that a harwood hood or? and how well did it fit.
69 Malibu Jul 6th, 10, 10:14 AM no, it's from unlimited products, up22.com and it bows in the middle and pretty much fits like crap.
SS509 Jul 6th, 10, 1:12 PM Sorry to hear that. I was about to use those guys but decided on having the smooth show finish underneath. Seemed Harwood was the only one that offered it but not cheap. I believe the hood with low tension springs delivered was $640+$600 for mounting, prepping and painting entire hood and blending the top fenders and valance.
SS509 Jul 6th, 10, 1:18 PM Frankie, that cam sounds interesting, keep us posted and good luck.
