Can anyone with experience tell me what they'd expect this particular car's tire/rim setup to be?:

'66 Chevelle SS396 Rear View (http://www.musclecarcalendar.com/FeatureCarsHome/Eds66SSChevelle/Eds1966SSChevelle4.htm)

'66 Chevelle SS396 Starboard (http://www.musclecarcalendar.com/PicturePerfect/Eds66SSChevelle/Page1.htm)

'66 Chevelle SS396 Port Side (http://www.musclecarcalendar.com/PicturePerfect/Eds66SSChevelle/Page2.htm)

I'd like to duplicate this stance and style for my '68, only perhaps using Wheel Vintique Billet Ralleys and BFG Street Drag Radials in the back. No idea what tires to choose for the front with those BFG Street Drags following behind.

All I can tell about this car is that it's got what looks to be 15" or even 16" diameter Torque Thrust rims. I have no idea what sort of backspacing, rim width, or tire brand or profile I'd need to accomplish the same results.

All replies would be warmly welcomed. graemlins/beers.gif Thanks!

My best W.A.G. would be 275/60-15 on the back with 225/60-15 on the front.

I can tell you from experience, that a 275/60-15 drag radials or Radial TAs fit a 68 easy, with room to spare. I've got the drag radials on 15x7 Torque Thrust Ds on the back now, and before that had 15x8 Corvette Rallies with 275/60-15 Radial TAs, the Torque Thrust have only 3.75" of back spacing, the rallies had 4".

I've seen on this site, that you can actually run 15x10 inch wheels if you use 5.5" of back spacing, and you can then run as big as a 295 or 315 rear tire, but I have never tried it.

I might try that on my 72 some day, but I like the 68 just the way it is.

Good Luck, and this site needs more 68 owners. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
