Hey guys, trying to get new insurance for the El Camino, and so I need a safety to make the switch, the only problem is that my car can start in reverse. It is a 1970, with a TH350 automatic. I honestly have no idea where to even start trying to figure that out:confused:
Any help is appreciated
Steve Is this car a column shift or floor shift?
Your neutral safety switch needs to be adjusted at the base of the steering column if column shift or at shifter if auto floor shift. move it back or forward to start in park position

It is a column shift, this may sound really dumb ha ha, but at the base of the steering column, do u mean inside the car, or under the hood?

Inside the car, just above the floorboards, a half-moon shaped switch attached to the column. It's mounting brackets are slotted, loosen and move the switch CW or CCW to get it to start only in park or neutral.

Might add, that this will also adjust the back-up light position.
Check to make sure the back-up are on ONLY in rev----and the car should start ONLY in Park or Neutral.
