Hello, recently put 17" rims on my 71 malibu. Am wanting to drop the front down some. Can I install 2" drop spindles and still clear the fenderwells, or should I consider shorter springs? Either way, my main concern is clearing the fenderwells. If you can drop the front by 2", would dropping the rear 2" also look good? Thanks alot, Tim!!! graemlins/waving.gif

it depends on the overall height of the tire whether or not it will rub. also, if you have original springs there may be too much 'bounce' in the front end which might cause rub. I have a 72 chevelle with 2" dropped spindles with 235/45/17's and i havent had any problems with them rubbing the fenderwell.

I would install 2" shorter springs,if it were my car. If you run wheels with very much backspace, the dropped spindles can create interference problems with stock A-arms. Running shorter springs will improve the front suspension's camber curve to a certain extent, I think. Another thing I don't like about most if not all the dropped spindle kits out there,is the requirement to run the smaller G-body brakes.
