Can anyone tell me why my 2005 Grand Prix's display signals me to "check gas cap"? I also have a check engine light being displayed. I tried a new cap, but it's still there. Now that I think about it, I don't seem to detect any venting when I remove the cap for refueling.....
Got any suggestions what I should look for?

thanks in advance!

The OBD II system is constantly checking the evap system, the gas cap not sealing tight or not screwed on correctly will turn on the check engine light after awhile, it will take approximatly 50 key/warmup cycles for the computer to do it automatically, get the code checked by someone with an OBD II capable scan tool to know for sure.

Must be a common problem...regardless of the vehicle's Manufacturer.
My '10 F150 doesn't have a gas cap. :noway:
