I was hoping you guys could help me out with some wheel covers I've got. I Bought a 68 SS in 1984 that had 5 spoke mag-style covers on it. I've been told that they were 67s but cannot confirm this. the part # is 552205. thanks in advance!

i believe there were the 65-66 mags, and 67-68 mags. i've seen pics of both and cant tell the difference. i even bought a pair of 67-68's that i was told were for a '66(which reminds me, someone from this site...)

anyways, they could be '68 mag, any id numbers on them?

The only number I can find is on the back of the center cap, it's 552205. They fit a 14 inch wheel.

Try posting this in the Restoration forum. You'll find guys there who can tell you the fine details between 65, 66, 67 style mag covers. Post a pic if you can.

To a trained eye the difference between a '65-'66 vs. '67-'69 wheel cover are obvious. The contour of the spokes (straight on early vs. curved on later design) plus center cap (sticks out on early vs. flush on later). Chevy continued to offer (not sell :D ) these wheelcovers well into the seventies (they had black or charcoal paint fill on the spokes) plus they began offering a 15" size. Remember that Rally Wheels were about $35 extra on a new car in '69 vs. $75 for the wheel covers.
