I'm thinking of slapping on some 20's on my 71 chevelle. Is there anybody here with this set up that can refer me proper backspacing, good tire measurements and and any other info is appreciated. Also, my front end is already droped about 2.5", would there be any problems fitting that big of a rim in there?

See if you can take a look at how 20's will look on the car. I have 18's and I have seen 20's on a Chevelle. The 20's just don't look right.
With the 18's you can still put 3.5 to 4 inches of tire for 27.5" (About the max height that will fit and clear the innders and the fender lip in full stop turns over things like driveway entrances) tall in the front and 28.4 (Up to 30" will fit) on the back. I have 295/45/18's in the rear and 255/45/18's in the front. 6 1/8" BS in the rear and 5 1/8" BS on a two inch dropped spindle in front. IF you use over 5 inches in front you need to carfully check the sway bar for clearance. I use a Hotchkis 1 1/8" as it has a tighter radius than some others and does just barely clear the tire in tight turns. On the driver's side the tire very slightly rubs if I hit a driveway at full right turn and a small bit of paint has been rubbed off the sway bar, less than 1/2 a dime in size.

If it were my car,I think I would run 18's on the front and 20's on the rear. Run a 18x8 with 4.5" backspacing and 20x10's with 5.5". They will fit both ends like a glove.
