Prior to 1973 quite a few states in USA did not issue Titles. Since way back when, if the car stayed in a non-title requiring state, the only thing a person needed was the Bill Of Sell and then the previous registration for tracibility and you are good to go.

Any of you have real world experience with getting such a car into canada, i.e. across the border?

you have to get that US customs stamp on the title. this is the main problem for you. Canada customs won't / can't process a car without the US stamp. They cannot fill out the K form.

I would work on the getting of a title from the US end.

I dont think you actually need that stamp from the US side, but it may deped on who you encounter when crossing. We inadvertantly missed the area where we were supposed to stop on the US side to get the stamp, and with construction at the Detroit bridge, we did not want to try and loop back around with a duallie and 2 car trailer. We took our chances and paid tax at the CDN side, and kept right on going. Now we did have a title and did send it 3 days prioer to Us customs, but again, did not stop on US side. I do not think the CDN side has any reason to check for that stamp except for pure courtesy (if that) I dont think this helps with the original question involving a title, but felt it was worth mentioning. My buddy who picked the car up for me said that was not the first time he just drove right through.

the stamping indicates that u.s. customs has performed the ncic checks and the car is free of any incumberances - wants, warrants, bolo, is suspect in a case, stolen.
if u do not have the stamping and u drive into the u.s. and it has been flagged as stolen, it will be seized by u.s.customs or local police, and u are sol.

Off topic but wanted to know if the 2 car hauler is fifth wheel or ball mount. I have to pick up 2 65 SD Beaumonts in Thunderbay to bring back to Hamilton.
