69 El Camino

I was checking out Summit Racing and Dante' Designs offers these style wheels. My brother told me to stick with 17's because of caster issues. Does anyone have experience with these size wheels (18's)? BTW, the car is lowered 3" in the front and will be lowered in the rear soon too (Leveled out). Thanks for any information. smile.gif

An 18" front wheel will not cause caster issues on your El Camino. As always, the major factor that will determine whether they will fit is the backspacing available. For example, can you get that wheel in a 18x8 size with 4.5" backspacing or a 18x10 wheel with 5.5" backspacing?

I'll look into what BS is available. After thinking about this idea a bit more, 17's would be better IMO. BTW, I was checking out your website. Great looking car and what kind of tonneau cover is that? Looks good.

Look at tire selection 17" vs 18" before making up your mind. Lot better selection in 18"s.
Thanks for the compliments on my car but it's no longer a pro street ride. It looks considerably different now.
The tonneau cover was on the car when I bought it.

I used to have 20x9 inch irocs on my 72 el camino and the ride was horrible. Looked awesome though

I have 295/45/18's on the rear of my 69 SS with 6 inches of backspacing and 255/45/18's up front with 4.75 inches of BS. If you go to 4.75 inches BS in front be certain your sway bar will work with the tires and BS. I use a Hotchkis and I barely clear. I have 2 inch dropped spindles up front and 2 inch dropped springs in the rear with air bags inside. If I were to do it now I would have gone with even more BS in the rear, 6.25 inches with stock rear end width and disc brake rotors.
