I have a 1970 chevelle malibu that is pretty much stock aside from the interior. I have a chance to jump on a deal for a set of 16" rims. However the backspacing on these rims are 5.5". Is this too much backspacing? Will I have to do body m modifications to fit these? Thanks!! :D

I don't know, but anyone who does will need the wheel width to answer your question.
5.5" BS on a 16x8 and a 16x10 are two different animals.
You should also take into consideration the section width of the tire you're planning on using.

I have a friend that has a 70 Chevelle, He's running 15x10s with a 5.5 in. back spacing and 295x50 BFGs. He hasn't had any problems with rubbing.
He's also got 3in. mandrel bent exhaust from the headers to the rear bumper. Just thought I'd mention the exhaust so you'd know that even with a tire that wide, You can still run some BIG pipes. :D Hope this helps you. Have a good weekend. Brian smile.gif
