Hey Im looking at buying some BFG Drag Radials in the size 325/50/15 and I currently have 275/60/15's out back. It looks like they will fit except for teh tailpipes which are being chopped off anyways. My main concern is how wide the rim must be for these fatter meats.
Any help is appreciated!

All you need is a 10" rim. I'm going to be running them on my 68. You'll need to do work up on the 1/4 lip and the wheel well so they don't rub. I think they'll be somewhere around 12.5" wide.

The 275/60/15's are the same hieght as the 325/50/15's, and it looks like I'll have clearance all around for an extra two inches including the wheelwell? Do you think they'll be okay. My velle sits pretty tall in back

I'm pretty sure Wes Colby runs the same size on his 70 and he's got a 502 w/ a blower and hasn't had problems. If you have 2" clearence all around, yer golden!

I had them on my chevelle with 15x10 weld draglites and 5.5 BS. I needed to do the lip roll but didn't want to. Decided to use slicks at the track and drop down to a 305/50 T/A. Unfortunately BFG quit making the 305 so now I have to figure out if I go back to the 325 or maybe try the 295/65. Laso been thinking about going back to my Retro US Wheel 5 spokes and a smaller tire. Just can't make up my mind graemlins/clonk.gif .

Has anyone else noticed that the choices available for 15" tires is becoming less and less. I don't want to be forced into buying 17" rims when I built the car around the 15" look. I'm currently running the 325 drag radial on the back and a 245/50/15 Dunlop on the front. I wonder whether we as a group could have any influence on the tire makers? Or do we, who want to retain the original look of our cars, have to take a back seat to the "new look" of 17" and larger wheels and tires?

I notice that too, there are more and more tires for larger wheel sizes and less and less of the 15's. They want everyone to go BLING BLING!

One last question...Will 325's look good out back on my ride?? Or too wide?

Before I had the 325's mounted up on the rims I thought "those things are too damn big" but once the combo was on the car it looked really good. I just hope I get some miles out of them.

Yup, 325/50's should really be put on a 10" rim. I have mine on a 9.5" rim as that is all I can fit (plus having an 8.5 rim custom widened).

On an 9.5" rim, these 325/50-15 drag radials measure right at 13" wide through the section width.

I just got back from Wes Colby's site, what a nice looking 'velle. Does anyone know if he had to make any mods to his to get the 325's to fit? He mentions that the wheels he is running have 5.75 inches of backspace. Anybody know? I really want to run the 325/50's but don't want to have to hack up my body.
