Has anyone used Instrument Repair Services in Roscoe IL to have their clock repaired or converted to the quartz movement? Any feedback would be apprecitated.

gibbons Oct 16th, 99, 10:17 PM Yes, they did the clock out of my '68. They did a fabulous job, I am 100% satified. Plus, at about $90 (including a new adjuster knob), they were $20-30 less than Clock Doc. It took about a week. The new quartz clock holds time really well, I don't think I have messed with the time adjustment for 3 or 4 months. Can't beat that. Well, I never really cared to fix it, but it would be nice to have everything working.. How much are they to repair the clock to analog movement and how much for quartz movement??? I was quoted a price of $89 for conversion to the quartz movement. My stem is also missing. For an additional $21.50 they will replace the stem and knob with one that is very close to original and ship it back to me with a one year warranty. So they can have all the time they need.CFR. ------------------ CFR. garyB Oct 19th, 99, 10:37 AM Well, after reading all this I thought about the clock in my 67 Impala (the chevelle isn't running right now but its clock doesn't work either). So, I went to the clock repair sites I had bookmarked to price things out and the prices listed above seem typical. I asked my wife if she wanted a working clock for 90 bucks and she said no way. BUT on the Tachman site was a little info about the type of clocks used and why they go bad. Usually it is due to bad or no lubrication and sometimes a voltage spike. I thought hey, I can fix a bad lube job so last night I took the clock out, disassembled it and sure enough it wouldn't turn due to hardend lubre. After liberal doses of starting fluid it now works great! I finished the job with some graphite and ultrafine gear oil. After all what did I have to lose? | ||
