I am in the process of restoring my 65'malibu SS and while in the process of taking of my fenders I came to a standstill on the bolts that are located at the base of the rear on the fender.(you will know if you have taken these fenders off before). On one side the bolt twisted off, and the other side
was frozen and had to be drilled out. My question is how do I reinstall these bolts the right way? My idea now is to is to drill and re-tap the holes. I am now in the process of putting on my fenders I would appreciate your help guys!

I had the same thing on my 64. However to do it the way the factory intended was alot more work than i had planned at that stage. What I eventually did was put a 5/16 cage nut in there and just slip it over one side of the frame. It works fine without any detection from the bottom. Originally there was a welded 3/8 nut there but mine took the same path as yours. Good Luck
