Hey all
so what do you guys run for front wheel? (Tire weidth and backspacing and rim size) i have 265 on the front and it rubs the tires everytime i hit a bump and sometimes on the freeway - so i want some new front tires.

Hey Alan,
I have 215/70's on 15x7 weld draglites with 4.5 BS on the front of my 72 Chevelle and 275/60's on 15x8's with 4.5 BS on the rear ( the fat n skinny look) and these front tires do not have any rubbing problems, my front end is not lowered but does sit slightly lower than most 72's (small block, non air) and the height of the 215/70's is 25" and the width is 7". I use to have 235/60's on the front and back on 15x7 American racing outlawI wheels with 4 1/4" BS ( I think) and I had no problems with these tires rubbing and this was with the original springs and worn shocks, the height of the 235/60's are 25.5" and the width was 9". I don't know how you want your Chevelle set-up cruising, handleing, daily driving. So if you could give some more detail on how it will be driven and what look you want I can try and help you out more the best I can.

Brandon I am thinking 235/60 with 4.5BS or 4.25BS. im not sure which one. My chevelle will be used for daily driving. I dont really care about the handling - so if the car understeers, I will just slow down. I also have 1 inch lowering springs. My cars front end used to be all the way up in the air, so the last owner had no problems with rubbing.
this is how it currently looks (http://www.alanyun.com/pictures/000_0034.JPG)
i have no problems with the 265 if I could keep it from rubbing though. I also like the Wheel wintage magnum 500 rims or the crager stars, but i dont think they have 15x10 with 5.75 backspacing. I have 295 on the back right now.

I think the 235/60 would be a good size tire for you. It was a good size tire for me which I used for six years in all sorts of driving conditions until I decided to change the look of my 72 with the fat n skinny look. I see alot of people using this size tire on the front and a bigger tire on the back, and the 235/60 should still handle good even with a wider tire in the rear like your 295/50 as opposed to say a 165R15 in the front would. I also don't think you should have any rubbing problems with which ever backspacing you use whether it be the 4.5 or the 4.25.
