If I bought 10 inch rims (Rally or Smoothies), how much back spacing would I need for my 69 Malibu?

Anyone see any problem with 295/50 R15 tires on a 10 inch rim?

Thanks!
Steve

Steve, I am currently using 5.75" of BS on my 10" Ralley wheels with a 295x50x15 Radial. I don't come close to the lip and I am a good 1/4" from the frame rail. It appears that most of the guys here like the 5.5" of BS and may have to do a little "Creative body work" to the lip. Pat

Where to you get rallye wheels with that much backspacing?

I had them custom made for my 69 Chevelle. The company is called The Wheelsmith and they are located in Santa Ana, CA They cost me $70.00 each. If you want them Chrome Plated, they will do that for you for an extra charge. Take Care, Pat

I'm running 15X10 Ralleys and 295/50-R15's on my 69 Chevelle. Plenty of clearance on between the tire and fender, VERY close to the lower shock mount. This is not exactly the same as a standard 69 install since the rear end is a '67 12 bolt (1 3/4" narrower that the 69)and has disc brakes (1/4" thicker than the drums). I got them from Wheel Vintiques, $180 for the pair (I think that included shipping). The only caveat is the custom offset wheels are not returnable, so if they don't fit you have a nice pair of plant stands.

Forgot the whole point of the post- the wheels have 5 1/2" back spacing.

I went with 3.75 on my 10 in. wheel and LOVE the way it looks with that fat lip but I have to be careful with the large bumps or going through a driveway gutter at an angle. but usually with the air shocks full i'm ok.
