OK folks, I keep reading different things so here goes. There are YA wheels used on 69, early 70 and AO after that. My 70 Elky build sheet shows YA.

Now, about the center caps. I've heard that shallow is original, that shallow was on early years and deep on latter and then today I heard something almost entirely the opposite.

Anyone have the real deal story? I do know one thing, almost for certain, to be genuine GM they have the number 3956770 and "Auto Cast" cast inside. I have both Deep and Shallow caps, both types have these identifying marks. Anyone care to speculate on the worth for NOS versions of both?

Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

Thanks graemlins/waving.gif

Here's my theory:
My 69 Chevelle had deep center caps. My 70 with AO wheels has deep center caps. What I have determined by trial and error with all parts are that there are three types: Reproduction, GM replacement and original GM. GM replacement parts seem to carry the correct part numbers but don't always look or fit like original GM. Reproductions, well.... Anyway, my theory is that the shallow caps with the part numbers are GM replacements. Feedback anyone?
