I know this is a redundant topic, but my research has given me mixed results on my ONE question: Will the 15x10 wheels fit with 5" backspacing on my 70 Chevelle? Or should I try to fit with 6" bs? I have already rolled the outer lip. Thanks.

I have a 70 also and everything i have heard is that 5.5 is the magic number for backspace on a 10 in wheel.

5 is too little, the tire will rub the fender lip

6 is too much, the wheel will contact your shock mount.

I run 10 inch wheels with 5.5" of backspacing on my '71 with 295/50-15 tires - no problems, but 5.5" of backspacing is crucial unless you want to do some sheetmetal, or other mods.

On my 70 SS, I have 15x10" rear rallys with 5 3/4" back spacing and 275-60x15 tires w/o any problems.

I guess the $64K question now is can the Convos be bought with 5.5" backspacing? If not,I would find another wheel.
