I want the pro street look, but I don't want to back half my car. Mini tubs would be an option however.

You can't just mini tub, since you have frame rails that are in the way as well. If you want some really wide tires, then you have to have the frame modified as well as altering the wheel wells.

The tires on the back of my Chevelle are a total of 12" wide. That is about as much that will fit without any mods.
315/35/17. 9.5" rim. 5.5" backspace.

One of my old Chevelles had 19.5x33 Mickey's. Big time mods. :D

Andrew, do you have any pix of my car you can send me? Mine turned out really dark. Thanks.

I have a '70 Chevelle that has the stock 14x7's all the way around. I am going to buy 15" SS wheels. My question for someone is, will a 15x10 with 5" backspace fit under the fenders in the rear? Just wondering if someone out there has done this.

Thanks,
Mark

I run 28.5" tall by 12.5" wide mickey thompson tires. with the lip rolled they fit pretty good. 15-10 rims with 5.5" backspace.

ratuned,
That is one nice looking 69 you have, do you know if those tires would fit on a 72 chevelle without having to roll the lip and are those mickey thompsons size 29x12.50?

Thanks,
Brandon

I'm sorry but I have no experience with 70-72 chevelles but think that the wheel well is similar. If you lived a little closer you could try for yourself. I don.t know what they actually measure but it is the 28.5" tall sportsman pro tire.
