The caps on my rally wheels are in very nice shape, but my trim rings are all banged up and aren't even all the same. In looking at NPD's catalog, the $19 each reproductions fit nicely in my budget, but I have a couple quick questions I hope you can help with:

1. They say for GM wheels, order by dimension. These wheels *appear* to be GM rally wheels, but only about 15% of this car has actually proven to be what it appears. And a couple of the old trim rings didn't fit very well, but I assumed that was the rings themselves. Is there a way to tell for sure these are GM wheels, a stamp somewhere or something? Or if they look like 'em, they are what they are?

2. Has anyone purchased or seen these reproduction trim rings? I'm not building a show car here, but don't want them to look like crap either.

3. Does the spray paint sold everywhere for rally wheels work okay, and is there any special prep needed to paint wheels (short of sandblasting)?

Thanks for any input.
Ed.

Eddie, you might want to check ebay for your rings. I bought a new repro set yesterday new for my 14 inch rally's, they costed 39.95. Heres the link, just email him and ask him what you need.

I bought cheap rings from eBay and they were junk. I sent them back and bought the ones similar to those at NPD. Actually the ones from Summit are less expensive than NPD and just as nice.

You definitley want stainless rings, not chrome. Stainless is what came from the factory. Chrome will start to rust on you. Just my .02 graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Yes, the factory wheels are stamped. The stampings should be near the valve stem opening. Let me know what numbers and letters are on the wheel and I will look them up for you to tell you if they are original wheels or not. Take care and hope this helps.
