Hello all, I'm trying to pull a yenko chevelle recreation. Problem being I read that these cars were "double COPO" and that they had an upgraded suspension also. Does anyone know what was included in the package?

Some Yenko's had the sports car conversion..larger front sway bar and 15 inch rallyes..no rear sway bar..regular COPO's just recieved the same suspension as the SS cars did..F-40..optional F-41 was available but I dont think any COPO cars recieved them

I think there is one documented COPO Chevelle with F41 that has a build sheet.

All of the '69 Yenko Chevelles recieved COPO 9737, and would have gotten the F40 suspension.

Correct.

The Yenko SportsCars handleing trick (if you want to call it that),
for the Yenko 427 Chevelle was the addition of the 15 x7 rally wheel and F 70 15 GoodYear Wide Tread GT tires.

It was a very rear tire selection and I think only other OEM application was on a special edition hi po Ford.

The 1969 SS396 even with F41 still had 14 inch wheels.

The 1969 Z/28 used the E 70 15 GoodYear Wide Tread GT tires.
Corvette used F 70 15 Goodyear but was a different tire.

So the correct Yenko Chevelle tire is very hard to find. I have only seen about 20 of these tires over many years of looking and was lucky to find 4 used ones. Still looking for one more.

Good information Joe. I had always thought the Sports Car Conversion COPO Chevelle got the E70-15 size like the Z/28. I have also learned something here.

Agree, that F70-15 Wide Tread GT tire would indeed be hard to find.

Did the Sports Car Conversion COPO Camaro also get the F70-15 or the more common E70-15?

Were these bias ply tires?

Our car had the standard suspension. It was so soft that the rear rubber snubbers had made shiny spots on the frame from rubbing on hard one-two shifts. F40 and F41 were both options in '69. Above and beyond the 427 engine, and the KQ rearend, there really wasn't anything particularly different about a COPO car.

The 427 COPO (iron and ZL1) Camaro used the 14x7 in wheels and E 70 14 Wide Tread-GT.
other tires were used on them but I think the WT GT was most common

1969 Z/28 and Yenko 427 Camaro and 427 COPO Camaro with COPO 9737 used E 70 15 Wide Tread-GT
other tires were used on them but I think the WT GT was most common
and I think all the Yenkos used the WT GT

The F 70 15 Wide Tread-GT is not available reproduction only a F 70 15 "Speedway" Wide Tread is ( Corvette tire ) - close but not the same.

Last time I called them, they said they had no plans to repro the F 70 15 Wide Tread-GT

Most restored Yenko Chevelles use the Z/28 E 70 or the Corvette F 70 15 "Speedway".

They were called bias ply nylon tires before the polyglass tires came out in 1970

The Yenko Chevelle tires have "GoodYear Wide Tread GT" white letters on them
The Corvette Speedway tires have "GoodYear Wide Tread F 70-15" white letters on them
and the thread pattern is different.

One restored Yenko Chevelle has 5 NOS F 70 15 Wide Tread-GT on it that the owner found one at a time and paid a lot of money for them.
When I saw that car I stared at those tires like they were diamonds :)

Since this is a clone project, will Modern radials turn anyone off the car? I'm going to keep the american racing torquethrust wheels.

It all depends on what radial you use. If you get some newer radial with yellow letters then it will look silly. Diamond back and Coker make good nostalgic looking lines of radials.
A nice new set of Radial T/A's are acceptable too in my opinion since they became available in the mid 70's.
