: Which looks better before or after????
blwnrat May 26th, 10, 9:04 PM Just looking for honest comments on the before then after. Had to change because had a minor fender bender, so decided to change everything. I've had this for 25 years so its been everything from stock to where its at now and everything in between. Seems I change it every 5 to 7 years to stay fresh. So before and after which one?http://i617.photobucket.com/albums/tt257/blownrat/Chevelle_065.jpg

FLASHED May 26th, 10, 9:15 PM I prefer the after photo ,were you at the northern regional with that car last year ?
Scotch May 26th, 10, 9:21 PM Huge improvement. Welcome to the 21st century! LOL!!
It's just an opinion, but that 'checkmark' graphic takes your eye away from the lines of the car. That part of the body has such a nice, muscular flow to it as it goes over the rear wheel...and that checkmark just cuts it in half and upsets the flow.
Otherwise I love it. The only other thing I'd change is to add a bug catcher instead of the scoop you've got now. A 3-holer would look really killer there...especially if you hid EFI under it.
blwnrat May 26th, 10, 9:35 PM Yes I was just finished up enough the night before and then it rained all day. Have a few bugs to work out but I will be there this year, considering I live 10 minutes up the road from where its being held this year.
I prefer the after photo ,were you at the northern regional with that car last year ?
droptop396 May 26th, 10, 9:45 PM Looks what you have done is nice. but you said honest opinions.
I prefer the before. I am not a fan of two tone custom paint.
Good work on refurbishing your Chevelle.
Ultimately, - you have to be satisfied with your car.
Nobody else matters.

Putting the graphic there was kind of the idea of breaking up the flow and I'm not done I am still going to put something else very subtle along the whole side just haven't got the time to finish so here it is not even sanded and buffed yet. As far as a 3 holer I prefer the Hilborn style if I had EFI I would put a Birdcather (3holer) on it just like the way it runs know and don't want to f*** with it.
sg5492 May 26th, 10, 10:16 PM I really liked the before, but the after is just awesome
novaderrik May 26th, 10, 10:32 PM the wheels are about 2" too big.
but other than that, looks killer.
The WidowMaker May 26th, 10, 10:47 PM after for sure!!! and i think the wheels are perfect. i would get rid of the hood scoop as well but i dont think your blower would allow that.
btw... little more than a fender bender. hopefully insurance didnt kill you by comparing yours to a bunch of $1000 beaters.
GenPac May 26th, 10, 10:49 PM I dunno which I like better but either way, I'd drive the snot out of it.
1966_L78 May 26th, 10, 10:52 PM After looks better, IMO...
Before looks nice, but with no hood, the Centerlines and tires (are those Pro Tracs?) it looks kind of 80's-ish...
71stroker May 26th, 10, 10:54 PM Another vote for the after, for me personally I prefer the pro touring look.
I also happened to like the 2 tone scheme, looks clean as is so be careful and don't over do it with graphics.
You did a great job mixing it up....there are lots of "cookie cutter" Chevelle's at every event be different !! O crap he we go...I shouldn't have said that :noway:
Molly's 70 May 26th, 10, 10:59 PM I like them both!!
Tod May 26th, 10, 11:30 PM Looks what you have done is nice. but you said honest opinions.

I'm old school...I like the before look. However, I do like your new paint, but for me (don't flame me, you said honest opinion), the big wheels got to go.
TLee38 May 27th, 10, 12:27 AM Definatelt after. Tha paint job is awesome.
chuckd71 May 27th, 10, 1:59 AM I like the wheels and the paint (especially since it isn't red).
Grumpy May 27th, 10, 6:22 AM I prefer the after. Nice car !
Luis May 27th, 10, 6:37 AM After for me!!!
Staged67GSPWR May 27th, 10, 7:21 AM I like the after as well.
BlownYenko May 27th, 10, 9:32 AM Huge improvement! I like the black roof and I like the wheel size. What height cowl hood is that?
elka May 27th, 10, 11:07 AM i like before. But I would be ok driving either!
Derek69SS May 27th, 10, 12:24 PM I like the paint of "before" and the wheels/stance of "after"
bdss396 May 27th, 10, 12:41 PM While it's not exactly my style i really like the after version of the car. It looks fresh but the before looks like the late 70's or early 80's. Nice car either way!
blwnrat May 27th, 10, 8:59 PM It is just a 2" steel cowl hood from Goodmark, and thanks for the comments.:beers:
Huge improvement! I like the black roof and I like the wheel size. What height cowl hood is that?
blwnrat May 27th, 10, 9:49 PM i appreciate the honesty from everyoneI had originally set the car up to look like the way I street raced it in the mid 80's. Now I just wanted something that if I took to a cruze I would be the only one not just another blue or red or orange with a black top that's why the change. give me about 5 years or so I might go back to stock. (still have original # matching motor and most of the parts) their's nothing I can't change to go back.

Broon72 May 27th, 10, 10:45 PM i like that after... its different and thats the best thing cause there is only so many variations of chevelles. Before you run into someone that has the same thing. So grats on the look
317millhand May 28th, 10, 3:26 PM I like the tow tone with the blower. Works perfect, the wheels look much better as well.
71 chevy May 28th, 10, 3:35 PM before
sjenkins71 May 28th, 10, 3:52 PM I like the after better. Albeit, the blower doesn't really fit the pt look, but still nice car. Yours is on the road and mine is on the stands still.
blwnrat May 29th, 10, 8:18 AM after for sure!!! and i think the wheels are perfect. i would get rid of the hood scoop as well but i dont think your blower would allow that.
btw... little more than a fender bender. hopefully insurance didnt kill you by comparing yours to a bunch of $1000 beaters.
I have state farm and before accident it was appraised for a certain value, so when it happen they stepped up and paid everything on the est, including all additionals that came up on the supplement. and the best thing I did it at my shop. So I got paid to fix my own car and do it my way. That is to say very meticulous. I appreciate ALL the honest comments from eveyone keep them coming, like I said I change it up every few years so I need to judge reactions from my fellow chevelleions. (is that a word?)
HighSchool70SS May 29th, 10, 9:57 AM After
SS4Real May 29th, 10, 2:03 PM I would like to see it all Orange (modern shade) with a '69 painted side stripe in black with slightly smaller diameter rear wheels in gray or black with a little more sidewall on the tire. Glad to see you get rid of the vinyl top. Nice stance.
Timhowdy May 29th, 10, 6:12 PM Cool car before, BADASS car now!!! Great job!!
Paul-ish May 29th, 10, 8:24 PM Like em both...but I vote for the new version. Look great.
Like the two tone paint and love how those big wheel tuck in so nice.
Dan 67 May 29th, 10, 10:43 PM Old school !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BossHogg69 May 30th, 10, 1:16 AM After - killer looking ride, and x2 on the bugcatcher idea!
72 malibu Jun 2nd, 10, 4:39 PM Before, that is what I remeber seeing as a kid growing up. No hood, big 'ol blower motor, Centerlines. This is what I see as a hot rod Chevelle. I appricate the work in your after /current state. .02

I appricate the work in your after /current state. .02 thats the way I grew up with but after so many years looking that way it was time for a change. But I did keep the Centerlines for just in case old school ( 80's) comes back in.
oltmanjr Jun 2nd, 10, 9:16 PM The after is KILLER
72 malibu Jun 4th, 10, 3:58 PM thats the way I grew up with but after so many years looking that way it was time for a change. But I did keep the Centerlines for just in case old school ( 80's) comes back in.

It left? lol - I would have kept them as well just in case I wanted to switch it up.:beers:
engineer959 Jun 9th, 10, 10:04 PM :thumbsup:My first post here also just picked up my first Chevelle also a 69. Love the stance and wheels what size are those and what knid of backspacing ?
blwnrat Jun 10th, 10, 11:14 PM 18x8 with 4.5 backspace and 20x10 with 5.75 backspace. Post some pics of your 69 here on the site, everybody would love to see them no matter what kind of shape its in.

NiteOwlNY Jun 11th, 10, 10:18 AM I really like the after and the 2 tone paint... My 68's tag says R6 although the car is silver at the moment it was a red with white top... I'm considering the 2 tone like you did except putting the car back to red/white....
chevellenut71 Jun 12th, 10, 6:46 AM :thumbsup:love the after but( there is always a but ) new school outside go new school inside. hide the blower. still it looks great. you did a nice job getting it back together. grats
gusszgs Jun 12th, 10, 12:56 PM Before hands down! Oh......my age?....close to 50. That should explain.:)
blwnrat Jun 12th, 10, 1:17 PM Before hands down! Oh......my age?....close to 50. That should explain.:)
Hey now I'm 44 . Close to 50 does not mean anything anymore. Your as old as you feel. The before believe me I still love that look, but I've had that look on the car for along time.I've had the car stock , mild, and now a little more wild. (anyone notice the taillight ext molded in or shaved locks just very subtle touches. This thing is always changing , If I dont like it down the road I'll change :beers:it again. All you need is some supplies and a COLD BEER and a long weekend and it's done.
karl Jun 13th, 10, 3:34 AM Funny how you ask in a pro touring forum which looks better, pro touring look or old school? The before looks like a mans car and more true to the cars heritage. The after looks like a kids car or a cross between the "euro" look and fast and furious Mazdas. Ive seen some nice pro touring cars but thats not it.
Drekoushranada Jun 13th, 10, 12:37 PM The after photo is awesome!!
WestCoast70 Jun 16th, 10, 4:01 PM Before is Cool, after is Cooler
mike_n_iowa Jun 21st, 10, 2:01 PM I like them both!!! but if i had to choose I would go with the after. I wanna see the pictures or the body work! The body work sure turned out awesome!!! Now... where are the pictures? lol great job!!!:beers:

kissmyss396 Jun 22nd, 10, 7:55 AM I think the wheels are perfect. I think they would look really sick in a black chrome finish to really tie in with the car.
I would also lose the hood scoop if possible. I think it breaks up the smooth body lines too much.
Great job man!!!
Dan
blwnrat Jun 23rd, 10, 11:34 AM If I could come up with another way of feeding the beast air without putting a 6" cowl hood on her. Maybe next year dump the roots blower and try a twin turbo set up. Have this freind who has a turbo shop and has been bothering me to try one of his set ups, but thats a different story.:beers:

664spd454 Jan 23rd, 11, 12:12 AM I came across this searching two tone paint jobs.
Old school looks good, but that two tone paint looks real nice. I am a big Centerline fan so the centerlines would be my pick with the two tone.
ChEvRoLeT Jan 26th, 11, 4:47 PM Just stumbled accross this myself, LOVE the after.
Paint and atance look great!
Freddy Mercado Jan 26th, 11, 6:52 PM After!!!
