what size tire should i use on my 68 chevelle malibu? I have 15x8in cragar w/ 4.25 backspacing, stock suspension. i want a wide/tall tire back there, but i don't want to deal w/ rubbing issues. Anyone have any preffered sizes. this is a street car so no slicks http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif
my knowledge w/ tires is limited, so any help would be appretiated

A 255/60 would work nice, you might even be able to go bigger than that.

You can fit a 275/60 on there if you want, I just don't know if it will fit with 4.25 bs it may rub or it may not.

I run a 275/60-15, on my 68, and was thinking I'd like to go larger.
I've run this size on 15x8" Chevy rally wheel, with 4" of back space, no problem.

I also think the P275/60R 15 will work on a 4.25bs 15X8 wheel as Thad has indicated. I know they work on 4.5" bs and I am sure there is more than .25 clearance to the lip. with that set-up. If you are running 255's now you can see how much clearance there is and determine the width difference of the tires and do some math.
