68454SS May 23rd, 10, 11:56 PM I have a crazy idea to try on my '68 El Camino. I want to setup a stand-alone room air conditioner (one with the vent tube) and plug it into an inverter plugged into my cig. lighter. I would vent the exhaust into the smuggler's box and from there it can get out the drain holes in the floorpan. Would this pull too much amperage to be practical? Any other obvious flaws to the plan? Small window units are normally ~5000BTU,while an automotive AC system is rated in that neighborhood of 25-30,000. There was a thread some time back on www.autoacforum.com about this.
