For a good all around tire size I would reccomend a 235/60R15 I use to have this size tire on my 72 chevelle for six years and was very satisfied with it, it was mounted on 15x7 american racing outlaw1 wheels.

Torque,

I would suggest you do a search on this topic because it has been discussed at infinitum. Any combination that works on a 70-72 Chevelle will work on your car. The combo mentioned above P235/60R 15 is a good all around combo if you want the same tire on all 4 corners. If you want something bigger on the back, a tire that fits perfectly without any modifications is a P275 60R15 On a 15X8" rim with 4.5" backspacing. This is what I have on the back of my 70. I know some on this board have a little larger (P295 50R 15's) with 5" backspacing but I don't care much for the 50 series tires (lower profile...less sidewall)on a muscle car era vehichle. This is just a personal preference.

Also, look at tire OD front to back if different sizes are going to be used. I like the butt end of the car a little higher than the front (a subtle lean forward) so I would never put a larger OD tire in the front.

My combo gives me what I was looking for and can be seen on my 70SS in the link below. P275 60R15 On a 15X8" Wheel Vintiques SS wheel with 4.5" back spacing and P215/70R 14's (Stock factory 14X7 SS rims) on the front.

It all depends on the look you want.

Good Luck

Robert
