: steel wheel & dog dish
my6t7ss Dec 30th, 02, 4:26 PM I have a 67 SS with factory disc brakes, I would like to run 15 X 8 steel wheels and the correct dog dish caps. Can this be done?
I currently have 15X8 chrome rallys with a 4.5" b/space. Are Dog dish caps the same for different years, models?
1966_L78 Dec 30th, 02, 8:14 PM Not sure on the wheels (but I am interested too...).
But the dog dishes for 1966 and 1967 are similar... I think they are actually the same stamping, but the detail painting is different in each year... Not sure, but I remember seeing some 65's with similar caps... I know the full-size (Biscaynes, etc) as well as Corvairs and Nova's for 1966 used a different cap...

my6t7ss Dec 31st, 02, 1:21 PM Thanks for the info, someone said 66 thru 69 Camaro and Chevelle were the same. I have no idea. Also don't have a clue where to find the caps or the wheels. E-Bay has a set of caps for a 69 Camaro.
1966_L78 Dec 31st, 02, 4:37 PM I know 1969s are different, but I do recall at least 67 camaros with similar caps... Not sure on 68, but I think those were the newer style...

my6t7ss Dec 31st, 02, 5:01 PM Thanks Tony, someone out there must have more info. I'm sure we will learn more about caps & wheels.
DaleM Dec 31st, 02, 8:38 PM Here is a page with Chevelle hub caps and wheel covers (http://www.dalesplace.com/htm/information/wheel_covers.htm) from my GM Parts & Accessories Manual. I don't know if the 14" hub caps would fit on 15" wheels...never tried it.

SSuper Dave Dec 31st, 02, 9:21 PM The original 14" dog dishes from my '68 fit on a pair of 15x7 steelies that I found at the junkyard. Can't wait to sandblast and paint them and run some bigger tires!

SSpete67 Dec 31st, 02, 11:02 PM I'm running a 15X8 in the rear of my 1967 SS Chevelle. I have 15X60X225 rear tires with 5" of back spacing. Its looks really good and works well with no tires rubbing. In the front I'm running 15X6 ralleys with 3 1/2" Back spacing with 15X60X215 front tires on my Ralleys. Hope that Helps
SSpete67 Dec 31st, 02, 11:03 PM Correction on my rear tires, They are 15X60X275 and no problem with tire rub
