: "Motor Wheel" brand wheels
70L34 Dec 26th, 02, 5:50 PM Does anyone know what the Motor Wheel "Fly" wheels look like? There's a local guy selling a set of two for a decent price...but I have never heard of this brand. Thanks for any help!

70L34 Dec 26th, 02, 6:16 PM Hey Clint,
These wheels are 15X8 and the seller wants $200. They have the original center caps...but they have been drilled for rim screws. Otherwise they are in great shape. What do you think?

USMUSL Dec 27th, 02, 12:41 AM I looked on www.akhwheels.com (http://www.akhwheels.com) for them but they weren't listed. That site has all kinds of old wheels. My friends dad owns the dealership across the street from the old Yenko dealership, and I remember sneaking around in the back when we were little kids and finding a case of Motor wheel center caps. I'll have to look through some boxes in my parents garage, I forgot all about it until the Motor wheel post.
70L34 Dec 27th, 02, 2:26 AM I went ahead and bought the two wheels tonight. Dude was firm on the price but these wheels look cool enough just to justify hanging on the wall. USMUSL, that would be awesome if you could turn up anything made by Motor Wheel in your attic. Let me know if you find anything--drop me an email.

ezstriper Dec 28th, 02, 9:44 AM Motor wheel was a drag race wheel manufacture
back in the late 70's, the wheels were the wheel to have in pro stock at the time. the drag race 15x4 fronts were made of magnesium
and were called fly wheels. I have a friend
of mine from my old race days who has 6 of the wheels(won't sell any of them though).
from what I remember when they quickly went out of business, never heard really why they
destroyed all the tooling for the wheels. I've seen a few wheels time to time but mostly of the 4" and 12-14" wide sizes, but they are very rare these days. Rob...
72Sprint Jan 15th, 03, 8:56 PM When I bought my Sprint used back in 81, it had recapped H70 BFG TA Radials all around mounted on chrome rally type 15x7 rims with "Motor Wheel Multi Style" on the center caps. I was in high school then and had no clue about the brand, just thought they looked good.
I still have the wheels on the vehicle (it's been in barn storage for 14 years now) and I was planning on just getting rid of them for some Cragar Draglite II wheels, but I think I might get them re-chromed and hang on to them.
I was thinking about getting a 70-72 Chevelle to fix up after my Sprint is restored and work on it with my son for him to use when he's old enough to drive. These wheels would go nice on that. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif
