what size tires should I use? I was thinking 265/50/15s all around. Would this look good? BTW car is a 68 chevelle stock height. thanks. Also what would be best offset. I am thinking 15x7s unless convinced otherwise. (15x8s)

Here's a '72 with AR TT-d's, 15x8.5 on all 4 corners. Front tires are P235/60-15 and rears are P275/60-15's:

I suggest you do a search on your 1968 topic. There are many combinations that would look good on your car. With a 15X7 wheel I think you can go all the way up to a P275 and fit. (I believe the factory reccommends 7"-9" width wheel for that tire). I know that will fit in the back with even a 15X8 wheel (and I believe 4.5" back spacing) as my buddy has that size on the back of both his 68SS's but he runs smaller P235 or P255's on the front.

I am more of a traditioanlist (old fashion is probably more correct) and feel that the old muscle cars need a little side wall showing on the tire so I would not put anything lower profile than a 60 series on my cars... but that is just me. There are a lot of guys on this board that are using a 50 series tire

I think a nice combo for your car would be P275/60R 15"s on a 15X8" rim with 4.5" back spacing on the rear and P235/60R 15's on 15X7 wheels on the front. (not sure about back spacing but I assume somewhere between 3.5"-4" would work fine)....but then again that is just me...you may like the lower profile 50 series tire. If you want the same tire all around I think a P255/60R on 15X7 wheels would work for you with probably 4" back spacing.

Again do a search on this board, I know combinations on different year cars have been discussed at infinitum. I am pretty sure anything that works on a 69 will work the same on a 68 and probably the same holds true on 70-72 models

I hope some of the above helps...some of it is opinion, some is fact, and some are "probablies" based on what remember from what I have heard and read.

Good Luck

I agree totally with mouse, I used the same tire and wheel size, but I have Weld Racing Drag Stars. Your combination will look good.
