Has anyone bought wheels from Specialty wheels in Oregon? I recently purchased a set of magnum 500 style wheels, and two were 'out-of-round'. Specialty Wheels replaced them with two more, and one of these are also 'out-of-round'. They say that they checked them before they were shipped and they were 'with-in specs'!!! The wheels look excellent on the car, but the harmonic shake at 50-55 MPH is downright irritating. Is there another source for these wheels, and will they be any better than I already have? If GM could make these wheels true, why can't the aftermarket suppliers?

I bought 2 15X8 Wheel Vintiques SS wheels direct from them 2 years ago and they balanced fine and I have had no trouble with them. I have heard complaints about them rusting at the seems inside when they get wet but I generally do not drive in anything but good weather so this has not been a problem for me. When I did get them wet last year (got caught in the rain) I brought the car home and washed and dried the car completely right away so I did not experience the rust problem.

These wheels can be bought through Summit, Jegs, and some of the Chevelle after market people. I bought them direct becasue I called them to ask some questions and while I had the guy on the phone he asked me if I wanted to be 2 and I said yes if he was allowed to sell them direct. I received them a little while later but I don't think I saved anything becasue it seems I paid the retail price and shipping just like if I would have bought them at a retail place.

Good Luck

Order from Summit and you'll save money. They are $10 cheaper than buying direct from Wheel Vintiques (same exact wheel) and you'll also get the 10% discount mentioned in bench racing (do a search) good until 12/31/02. Just my opinion.....that's what I'm doing.
