: Tire options on a '67

I have 15x8 rallyes with a 4" backset. (If you look at the photo in my signature, you'll see what I'm talking about.) I have 255/70's on there now that need replacing (obviously!). To my eye, these tires just seem too tall and fill the wheelwell a bit too much. I know it's a subjective thing but I'm looking for suggestions on a smaller tire that gives me the same, or more, treadwidth. Would the simple answer be something like a 275/60? TIA.

I run a 295-50/15 on the back of my 66, but I had to have the rim offset to fit it (stock 15X8 ralleys aren't offset properly to get the maximum tire back there...). I have not modified the wheel lip at all...

Maybe check out some tire company websites... I think I have seen some with specs...

Check out the pics in my signature (althought not the best shots for seeing the tire clearance... I use to have the car 4-5 inches lower (but same wheels and tires) with no problems...

I have researched the same thing on my 67 and it looks like the 275/60 on the back with a 4 or 4 1/2 back spacing will work fine. Personally I think I'm going with the 4 1/2 in the back with a 4 in the front, with a 215/70.

I run 15 x8 rally wheels on all four corners.....the offset is 4-1/2". I have 235/60-15 tires up front, 26" tall and 295/50-15 tires in back 26-1/2" tall. The 295s fit perfectly with plenty of clearance.
