Anybody seen this yet?? I came across it in a new issue of a trade magazine and was instantly intrigued. http://www.qa1.net/qa1_motorsports/new_products.html click on the wireless adjust system for the pdf. My mind couldnt stop racing with ideas about active handling and such. Hack the controller and hook it into a CarPC with a program written for controlling the shocks and you know have infinitely variable shock settings. Add suspension travel sensors like on an AirRide car and a 2 channel accelerometer and you could have a suspension that would almost instantly respond to changing road and driving conditions on the fly.

If wheel travel and rate were too high it would indicate a bumpy road and you could have the suspension soften up until it smoothed out.

How bout drag racing??? Who wouldnt love a 90/10 shock that turned into a 50/50 or better on the top end??

Hell couple this with an air ride system and the skies the limit...

How bout this to give you an idea of what could be done

I was thinking about this just last night, but before I know they had it. My 07 Tahoe LTZ has ride control out back and not only does it level the vehicle depending on load, it will adjust shock rate based on driving conditions.

Pretty cool. Wonder how it interfaces with the mechanical "knobs" on the shocks themselves.

Perhaps something like the remote nitrous on/off, but with a more precise stepper type motor. Or is the shock itself special with some kind of electronics inside of them?

it uses compressed air... I guess it modulates the air pressure to the shock and thats what does the magic. All I know is I have a better pic in the mag I have and its got two air lines and theres a small little "air managment" controller. Probably a baby Viair and a set of solenoids. They say itll only work with shocks made after 3-10 but they can retrofit any of their shocks.

All I know is that the active handling stuff is way freakin cool and when dialed in can work wonders for ANY application be it a truck, street, strip, road racing, off road..

i have been talking to QA1 since Sema about getting a unit for our new test car that will be comming out this summer. they are still in final developement, but it looks very cool, you can adjust the shock damping on the fly. dual adjustable shocks is what it is really designed for so you can adjust bump and rebound independantly. you can have 10 presets??? i think you can adjust front and rear independantly also if i remember correctly.stay tuned we should be one of the first to test the unit.
