Is it ok to run 14 inch wheels on the front and 15 inch on the back?
I just wanted the back to sit alittle higher.
Thanks to all for any help

I wouldn't do that, it will screw up your gear ratio and the ride. Keep the same size wheels but different widths are ok (wider in back, skinnier in front) if you want your ride height changed in the back use the adjustable air bags in your rear coil springs, they are inexpensive and easy to install.

Lots of guys do it, (are you listening Mr 4speed?). It won't screw anything up. The worst thing that will happen is that your speedometer won't be quite as accurate as before. Just don't put different sizes left & right.

That is what I prefer also, they say it was from the 60's and some people say it doesn't look good but in my opinion it looks great! I run 205\70\14's in the front and 275\60\15's on the back and I even put a rubber spacer (2"s roughly) in the rear coils to jack it up even more. I have had no problems with it. But you will need to change your speedo gears since you are changing the height of your tires. (they take into consideration your tire size\gears ect) I hope you go for it and send me some pics!

Elkygrease monkey, Is the 275/60/15 the same as the L60-15 inch from way back in the 60sJ

I ran 205/70x14 front and 235/60x15 rears on my Chevelle for a number of years. Not a radical rake but I liked the stance.

To see how much your speedo would be off, go here (http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html) and put in your factory tire size and the intended replacement size and compare.

I have that set-up on my 70SS (P21570R 14's on the front and P27560R 15"s on the back) and can be seen on the link in my signature. The 2 drawbacks are 1 as mentioned above

* Speedometer is off
* Actually should carry 2 spares especially if you have a posi rear-end

I also like the stance it gives me... a very subtle lean forward

I have 15s on my car with 215/70s and 255/70s. Would I have to have 2 spares too? Or is that because of the 14/15" combo?

Chad,
the reason for two spares is that the tires are different diameters, nothing to do with the wheel sizes (or tire widths)...

If you were to have a flat on the back, you want the back tires to have the same diameter if you have a posi rearend... Otherwise, if the tires are different, one will spin faster when driving down the road, and this will cause the rearend to slip (trying to "differentiate"), and prematurely burn up the positraction clutches...

Running two sizes either on the front or on the back of an open rear end should not cause any problems, but might affect the handling of the car... Therefore only do that in an emergency...
So, if you have posi and different size tires, I would carry a spare that matched the diameter of the rear tires... and hopefully that will still work on the front for emergency purchases...

Heck, what am I saying... I don't even have a spare... http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif

C.C.C. I don't think that my 275\60's are the same as your L60's. The L60's are much wider if my memory serves me correct.
