What is the largest rim/slick that fits on a '70 Chevelle if I wasn't planning on tubbing it?
Thanks,

It's not what you drive that matters, as long as it doesn't use rice as a fuel...

Pascale,
I suggest you go over to the tire section and do a search because this has been discussed alot. This is what I know to be true:
A P275/60R 15" tire on an 8" rim with 4.5" backspacing will fit like a glove. This is what I have on my 70 (not slicks however) The P275 is the largest 60 series tire available I believe
This what I think I remember is also correct:
A P295/50R 15" tire on an 8" rim with 5.5" backspacing will fit. I personally don't like the lower profile look however
I also think I have heard some people may have used a 10" rim but I may have that incorrect. The search may turn something up
So if you use this as a guideline and get physical sizes of these tires and translate this to Slick tire size that I believe are numbered differently, it will give you an idea of what will fit. Backspacing is the key
Hope some of this helps

Actually if you want to run a 295/50/15 you will need either a 15x10 with 5.5" BS or a 15x8 with 4.5" BS.
