: Can you have a floor shift auto with a bench seat?

I know that in 68 you could get bench seats with a manual trans, but was that an option with the auto trans? I'm assuming that the console won't fit with a bench seat, but I didn't know if you could get the auto shifter in some other form.

Thanks, Kurt

From all of my research of the 68 chevelle. I don't think they made anything else other than the column shift for the automatic.

If you have a bench seat then the auto shift is always on the column. If you order bucket seats, you can (extra cost) option for the console and the shifter would be automatically included in the console. If you ordered bucket seats with no console the shifter was on the column. All floor shift auto's had to have a console option. Some early year's you could have a bucket seat and console and still have the shift on the column. I have seen an original 64 Impala SS in a junk yard 10 years ago just this way, they are few and far between.
