I was thinking of putting on a set of Camaro SS rims in 17x9 (the 10 spoke's... in silver) or a set of Z06 rims, 17x9.5 / 18/10.5... once the car is painted and the new motor/trans in place.

would the stock backspacing work? or would i need to shim it out, and what tire size would i be looking at with either one?

You would need to find some high quality spacers to make them work.

The offset is wrong, on either set. There are a few cars around my area with late model Camaro rims, mostly Camaro's. They were using billet spacers, don't who makes them or where you can get them. But they are out there.

yeah, i found a guy's site that has a 68 Camaro with 2000 Camaro rims (it looks badass) but he is using 2" aluminum spacers from www.vettebrakes.com. (http://www.vettebrakes.com.) Apparently, modern rims are flush face (or something like that) and arent made with nearly the offset that they used to be.

but it will work, i will make it work.
