After studying, Chris White's headliner write up, great job, I'm attempting it on my 71. I bought some Dynamat to put on the roof, stuffs pretty heavy. The original sound proofing stuff is in fairly good condition. So questions are;
Will the .067 1.7mm thickness cause any problems with the bows or anything?
Should the old material be removed before sticking on the Dynamat?
Don't do it, leave it as it is?
Probably be a few days before I'll be ready to put the headliner up.
Thanks

The thickness shouldnt matter toooo much but the bows are tight.
If you do it take off the old stuff.
Im doing it right now and just left it as it is I cant see that much noise coming through the roof.

I don't know if I up for scraping that old sfuff off, it's pretty much all intact! Leaving it as is, is looking bettter! Another thing I forgot to ask;
The headliner material has all those little holes, I wonder if you will be able to see that shiny foil behind?

The old roof insulation on 64-67's has an A in a circle stenciled on it, which I have been told is the symbol for Asbestos!! :eek: I don't know if that's true or not, and I don't know if 68-72's used the same stuff. But better safe than sorry! So if you start scraping, do it outside, with a really good mask, and then vac up the remnants with an emptied shop vac and be prepared to throw the filter away and to carefully bag and properly dispose of the contents of the vac when you are done.
