There's a set of 15x7 wheels on eBay for a reasonable price, and I was wondering what's the biggest tire I can put on a 7" wide rim?
I'm thinkin 235-60 up front and however wide I can go in the back. Thanks in advance for the help

You can go for a 275/60/15.
as a matter of fact, someone on this site posted pictures of his chevelle, 1972 with stock 15/7 wheels with that size tire.

That's what I have on the front, 235/60s. This is helpful for me too, because I'm working on a set of steel wheels with dog dishes off of an Olds wagon and they are 15x7.

I have 255/60s in the rear, on 15x8s and the left side rubs a bit. I'm hoping when I do the dog dishes, I will alleviate that somewhat. As well as new bushings this winter. I want to go back and forth between these wheels/tires and the dog dish set.

I run 265-50/15s on stock 15X7 rallys, on the front of my Chevelle... No problems with tire to rim, and the tire shop never gave me a hassle about the tire too wide for the rim... and the 50-series is short sidewall...

I have a '72 with stock rallye wheels & I have 245 60/15s on the front & 275 60/15s on the rear. The only problem with running the 275s on the rear is they don't look as wide as they should. They would look much better on a 10" wheel. If I could only find someone who makes a reproduction rallye wheel for a '72. I know of a company that will widen the stock rim. Anyone have any experience/luck with doing that?

I have 275/50/15 in rear and it fits perfect with a 15x7 and 4.25 BS. That is a very short sidewall but it looks good with a little bulge coming from the tires.

I also have 275/50/15's on my 15X7. They look great on the back 10" of tread and round sidewall.

275/60/15 on a 15x7 in these pics. I thought they looked good and performed well.

BFG recommends no smaller than a 8in. wide wheel for the 275-50-15.They told me that if you go smaller it would be dangerous to much stress on the bead area, hope this helps.
