Any wheel shop, and most likely any tire manufacturers website, will have a chart of overall tire diameter. One thing to remember is that any difference in height will need to be divided by 2. Example, a tire 3" taller will make the car sit 1 1/2" higher in the rear. Without knowing the overall height it is impossible to give a well informed opinion and since the rear tires are not very common not many people will know the height . Good luck.

Go with some wider tires, man! Those 235's aren't gonna hold at all!

To answer that you'll need to tell us what year your car is, what wheel width you have, what the back space is on the wheels and whether your rear end is stock width. I think people here have 255's under everything from a 64 through 72 but you will need the right back space.

Wes

PS I've got 255's on the back of mine - 8" wheel with 4.75" BS. Could fit a wider tire(Maybe as high as 295's?), and 4.5" BS would have been perfect.

i have 235/60/15 on front and 255/60/15 on the back of my 71 chevelle with 15/8 cragars.
wheels have 4 & 1/8 back spaceing.they fit perfect.
you can even fit 275/15/60 on the back and they will not rub.

I would think that 255's would work fine. 275's should fit in the wheel well, but they may be a little wide for a 7" wheel. Just my opinion - I'm sure there are guys running them...

A 7" wheel with 4" BS should be very close to a zero offset (depending on the width of the lip) - which is what you want. For zero offset on an 8" wheel, you'd want 4.5" BS.

The "raked" look will depend more on your current suspension than a 1" difference in tire/wheel sizes.

Here's a picture of my Chevelle (http://www.dalesplace.com/images/chevelle/ss2.jpg) a few years back with 205x70/14 and 235x60/15's. I later changed the fronts to 215x65/15 with no change in height. After redoing the Chevelle and getting new 225x50/17 and 255x50/17 wheels/tires (http://www.dalesplace.com/images/chevelle/more_pics/p000868a.jpg), I took the old set from the Chevelle and put on my 67 El Camino and, as you can see here (http://www.dalesplace.com/images/camino/p000845.jpg), it sets almost level.

The first 67 Chevelle I had in 1967 (http://www.dalesplace.com/images/chevelle/myblackss_3.jpg) with factory F70x14's had a definate nose-up attitude and the car was less than 6 months old.

You can put 275/50/15 BFG drag radials on 7" wheels. It falls in maunfaturer specs. They are roughly 26"'s tall so probably not as tall as what you are looking for. I do know that there are a couple of people running 275/60/15 on 7" wheels but most of the company's would prefer you run 8" wheels.

I have 275-60-15 on the rear and 235-60-15 on front of my 66 convert all are on 15x7 monte carlo rally wheels with no wheel well mods or rubs of any kind. It has a slight rake front to back rears wear a slight bit more in center of tire because of 7 inch rim. though I have close to 30,000 miles now on this set. I run kelly spring field chargers. Grip well when wet not noisey and have never had any problems. FWIW I am looking to switch back to same size on all 4 wheels So that I can rotate them and get better wear. Just not sure what size yet. Thinking of dropping to a 50 series all the way around. I Don't think I can geta 255-50-15 on front w/o rubbing with stock rims. I want to go to 15x8 wheels.Going to ait til after the B car spindles are on as it lowers front about an inch and moves wheel out SLIGHTLY.
