Ok, that may not be the name for it but my plunger switch for my A/C on the control head is temperamental, sometimes it turns the compressor on and sometimes it does not.

I hate opening up my 69's dash but since I have it open now I want to fix this problem. Does anybody have an OEM part number for this thing? James Hinshaw says it is not reproduced and he doesn't have one. Any ideas where I can get one?

Thanks in advance.

Johnathan, I did this recently, no they don't reproduce an exact duplicate. However I have seen them on ebay used still in good shape from time to time. I also think OPG and Year One make a modified version that is supposed to work.

Thanks for the tips. What is the correct name for this part and does anybody have a part number?

I took mine apart and sprayed it with tuner wash and put it back together. Worked fine.

Was your doing the same thing? These things are impossible to find. Worth a try, Thanks.

Yes it was doing the same thing. I put it in a vice and used a small screw driver to move the tabs back. I took the lid off and cleaned the switch out with tuner cleaner, lube from RadioShack. Put it back together and it works fine. I guess every 40 years or so you need to do a little maintenance.:D

I took mine apart and cleaned the contacts with a pencil eraser, it is a pretty simple system, contact board, small spring and a sliding contact. I checked it with an OHM meter and it appears to be working properly.
