I am beginning to search for my tire/wheel combination and I have a question on tire size. I will be running 15s and want to know what the biggest tire I can fit in the rear using 8 inch rims. I have been told that I could get a 275-60-15 under the back with a 4.5 backspace, can I? Also are 295-60-15 possible. Could anyone out there that has the same type setup give me a clue, no guesses please.

I am running BFG 295-50/15 tires on the back of my 1966 Chevelle convertible, and I did not modify the outer lip at all (I even run factory wheel well trim).
I am running 15X8 corvette style rally wheels that i had custom offset by Wheel Vintiques (they are Wheel Vintiques wheels, not factory GM).
I measured the rearend and wheel wells, and specified my offset... I don't recall exactly, but the reciept states "5-1/4 Back Spacing).
I DID HAVE TO RUN SPACERS because of rubbing on the inside (1/8" to 3/16"?).
I used to have the car lowered extremely (4-5 inches below stock) and no problems...
Up front, I run BFG 265-50/15 of stock 15X7 ralleys (mid-70's Monte Carlo rims).
