Hi, I was given a pair of these shocks, #550012. understand they fit the front of a B/D body like an Impala SS. Anybody know if they will fit a Chevelle? Looks like maybe the body is a little long. Any wisdom out there?

Found these specs on them:

Compressed Length 9.375"
Extended Length 14.250"
Travel 4.875"

Specs for OE replacement ('69 Malibu) shocks:

Compressed Length 8.625"
Extended Length 13.375"
Travel 4.750"

I'd agree with you, they're just a little too tall.

I could use these by adding a 3/8" spacer on the bottom and splitting the lower shock bushing on top.

I think I'll hang onto them. I like them because of the fat shaft reminds me of the Monroe tie-rod end shocks we used to run on the stock cars.
