ive been looking in some old posts, but could never find exactly what i needed to know.
as the subject states, id like to know what backspacing is perfect to fit a 10" rim (with 275/60/15s) under a '66, with stock length axles, etc.
and i CAN understand a little wheel well lip trimming, if necessary.
thanks fellas

I'm not sure what you would need with a 10" rim, but I run a 15x8.5 with a 5" backspace with 275/60 tires on my 66 and have no problems whatsoever.

i dont know why 10" actually, an 8" will work.
but thanks for the reply, it gives me an idea.
im guessing a 4.75" or 4.5" on a 8" rim will work also.

I just measured mine the other day, and it was a little over 5 inches... This allowed me to run a 295-50/15 on a 15X8 rally WITHOUT modifying the outer lip... Even use the factory trim without rubbing...
I think the stock 15X8 Chevrolet rally has a backspacing of 4.5" (and a total width of 9 inchs... Therefore the rim will be centered on the end of the axle... This sticks out too far for the maximum tire width...
