How do I remove the dash pad on my '71, 2 door coupe? I need to dye it another color.

There are 4 screws above the speedo cluster and 2 inside the glovebox.

Remove the screws Buck mentioned, lift up the edge, closest too you, and pull it towards you. There are spring clips that slide under the sheet metal near the windshield.

Thanks Cruzin4fun! Worked like a champ. Hasn't been removed since it was assembled in Arlington!

Is this pretty much the same for a 71 Elky?

The dash is the same so I would suspect the pad mounts the same way. Locate and remove the 6 screws, lift up I the edge closest to you and you'll be able to tell.

It is exactly the same. The same parts are used.

I HAVE ALREADY REMOVED THIS PART ON MY 72 CHEVELLE, BUT DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO REMOVE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, BECAUSE I WANT TO CLEAN IT SINCE IT HAS A LOT OF DUST BEHIND THE LENSE. ANY HELP WOULD BE APRECIATED.

THANKS

Do a search on here. I remember putting up some pics of this. Taking out the whole dash - and others have done it. The instrument cluster has two HIDDEN screws, so do the search and you'll find the info in several places, plus photos...

Like Brian said, the whole dash on 70 > 72 needs to be removed. Only way to access all the screws that hold the gauge cluster in.

If you try to change the bulbs be sure to disconect the battery first, or you may need a new printed curcuit board by the time you are done. You can easily smoke it. Some of the bulbs are easty to access.
