I have a 67 chevelle. I want to put the widest wheel possible WITHOUT modifying the fenders. I do not want to run at all on anything. What is the widest wheel that I can go and not rub whatsoever

I have 8 inch weld draglites with 295 50's (goodyear eagles).

The rims have 5.5 backspacing and that puts the wheel a little too close on the inside so I'm using a 3/8 of an inch wheel spacer.

This is on a 66 and it fills the wheel wells side to side with no rubbing.

I need to add that I have a wider (about an inch) 72 12 bolt under my 66.

This means with a 67 rear, you could use 8 inch with 4.5 BS and it sould work about right to run 295's.

AzN, If you do a search in this forum you'll find that there are a few guy's running the 295 50 15 with 15X8 and 4.5" of backspacing without any mods. I'll be doing the same when it comes time to put her back on the road.
