I would like to know what are the widest ralley wheel/tire combo for a 1967. It has the stock 12 bolt posi and stock springs. I would like to put 15x7's on the front and 15x8's on the back. Will this work without airshocks and if so what tire size would you recommend? What backspacing do I need? Thanks for your input, Dallas

I don't know what my backspacing is, but I have 68' vette 15x7 rallys that take the 15x8 trim ring on the front with 235/60s and on the rear I have 15x8 rallys with 255/60s. My left rear tire rubs, I think because of some bodywork that was done years ago. And on the front when I turn sharp sometimes it will rub.

I've got 15X7 up front with 235/60's and a 4.5 backspace. On the back I have 15X8 with 275/50's and a 4.5 backspace (or maybe it's 5) ...no rubbing.

Dallas,

15x8's on the rear with 4.5 inch BS you can go with 295 50's and they will fill the wheel well side to side with no rubbing.

Thanks guys for the information. I want to do it right the first time. It helps to get info. from someone who has "been there done that".

I have a 1966 Convertible with the stock 12-bolt...

I run 15X7 ralleys up front (mid-70's Monte Carlo) with 235-50/15s

Outback I run 15X8 rallys from Wheel Vintiques that have been offset, so I can fit 295-50/15 with no modifications to the outer lip... Even running the stock wheel-well moldings... No rubbing...

That is what I was thinking of doing. I have a set of 15x7's off a 70 Monte that I can use up front then buy the best 15x8 with the right offset for the back. I currently also have a 67 Malibu with some old style 15x8 Mags with 275/60R15 on the back that look tough but they rub when my airshocks leak a little. I don't what this problem when I get my 67 SS all done. I would rather not mess with airshocks again.
Thanks for the input Tony.

I'm bringing this TTT in hopes of getting some more responses. I'm new to the board but have had my 67 ragtop for 6 years now. I recently blew my stock rear and just got a 12-bolt posi unit with 4.56 gears in. This just amplified my need for some real wheels/tires (my current are 215/60R15's). What can I fit back there? I've rolled the lip slightly out of necessity but this was with a baseball bat in my driveway on the way to summer nats in Worcester MA (5 guys, trunk full of beer, and the oldest, weakest springs you can imagine running my buddies 275/60R15's).

rereading my old post, I made a mistake... On the Front, I run 265/50-15s on 15X7s
